Here in Saskatchewan we adhere to standard time year-round and don’t mess with the clocks. Daylight saving time is an anachronism that should be abandoned, notwithstanding the arguments in favour of it that you cite.
It does however mean that we have to keep an eye on the tv schedule when setting up the recording of shows from outside our time zone!
